Midnight At The Miami Urban Oasis

Miami, Here I Come!
This Is Where I Would Sit And Think…And Drink.
I Don't Know What This Room Is For, But It Looks Fabulous.

It's time for HGTV's Urban Oasis Giveaway. I swear they just did this but don't care. It's so fabulous, however I don't understand why I never win these things. I would actually appreciate a "space where organic and inorganic meld successfully" and that the living room's "low-profile furnishings, crisp white palette and sleek lines set the tone for the apartment's contemporary design style." Urban Oasis, I get you.

Enter HGTV's Urban Oasis Giveaway and if you win just remember that "glass and matte marble surfaces set a contemporary tone in the spa-style master bathroom."

If It's Good Enough For Gywneth...

Tata Harper Deluxe Beauty Set ($65) Anthro

I love a green pouch full of beauty products, so when I read in Vanity Fair that Gwyneth Paltrow and Julianne Moore are Tata Harper fans it was as if God herself was trying to tell me something. The sassy pouch contains the following all natural, non-toxic products: Regenerating Cleanser, Hydrating Floral Essence, Rejuvenating Serum, Rebuilding Moisturizer, Reparative Moisturizer, Replenishing Nutrient Complex, Replenishing Nutrient Complex and Resurfacing Mask.

A Dollop Of Downton

And I do mean dollop but what a dandy it is. Clearly, Maggie Smith vs. Shirley MacLaine is going to rival Godzilla vs. King Kong. Us Americans have to wait all the until January 6th for season three of Downton. Oh drat!

I Want To Be Isabella Rossellini!

The September issue of Vanity Fair is a must-have. Stylish films are center stage and then there's the new Bulgari ad campaign starring the uber-fabulous Isabella Rossellini. Let's just say that she's the reason I spent my twenties as a brunette. Check out the Bulgari website for more Isabella. -CABOO

The Golden Shower Rule

As for the whole peeing in the pool debate, I can understand the confusion. The French word for swimming pool is "la piscine" after all, but as an avid swimmer I have a "Golden Shower Rule" that I live by.
"Pee unto others as you would have them pee unto you."
The swimming pool is my happy place and there's no tinkle in my happy place. Check out Veranda's most memorable pools.

My apologies to the late William Carlos Williams. The stamps you choose speak volumes about you. These say I was an English major once upon a time, but have long since put away erudite things. The new Twentieth-Century Poets stamps from the USPS include the likes of Elizabeth Bishop, Joseph Brodsky, Gwendolyn Brooks, E. E. Cummings, Robert Hayden, Denise Levertov, Sylvia Plath, Theodore Roethke, Wallace Stevens, and William Carlos Williams.

London: Portrait Of A City By Reuel Golden
($69.99) Taschen
"Home Of The Brash, Outrageous And Free"
- Morrissey
As the Olympics draw to a close so must our time in London. This book from Taschen looks like a lovely souvenir.
"From Victorian London to the Swinging 60s; from the Battle of Britain to Punk; from the Festival of Britain to the 2012 Olympics; from the foggy cobbled streets to the architectural masterpieces of the millennium; from rough pubs to private drinking clubs; from Royal Weddings to raves, from the charm of the East End to the wonders of the Westminster; from Chelsea girls to Hoxton hipsters; from the power to glory: in page after page of stunning photographs, reproduced big and bold like the city itself, London at last gets the photographic tribute it deserves."
