Speaking Of Hugh Laurie...

I don't know that I've made it clear by now, but Hugh Laurie is the bee's knees, the bomb, the cat's jam jams. The fabulousness that is Hugh Laurie knows no bounds. Case in point, he has embarked on a musical journey that has lead him to my birthplace (so by default, right to me). Tonight at 9 on PBS Hugh gets down in a special concert with the New Orleans musical elite (Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas). I have a feeling he's going to hold his own. Like Hugh, my soul is fed by these musical greats. My soul is also fed by scarves, handbags and reruns of Ab Fab

Time For Bloodys With Mummy

Lacoste Watch ($95 At Macy's)
Lacoste Watch ($95 At Macy's

These Lacoste watches are preptastic and one of the few things I can afford from the costly Lacoste brand. Now I must away to the club for my paddle tennis lessons.

Smell That Smell

Jo Malone Cologne Collection ($95 At Neiman Marcus )

I love these Jo Malone cologne collections they put out for the holidays. It seems kind of early but I don't care. Check out the scent lineup:
  • Grapefruit
  • Pomegranate Noir
  • Wild Bluebell
  • Red Roses
  • Vanilla and Anise
I've been meaning to travel to the big city to smell Jo Malone's new fragrance, Wild Bluebell. I live in a Jo Malone-less small town. They probably think Jo Malone is the cousin of that bartender from Cheers. Sigh.

The World Of Gloria Vanderbilt ($25.87 on Amazon)

I saw Gloria Vanderbilt on last Monday's episode of Anderson. She's like a Coco Chanel/Auntie Mame hybrid. So obsessed. Check out The World Of Gloria Vanderbilt by Wendy Goodman.
"Gloria Vanderbilt is many things: an heiress, a painter, a muse, a designer, a model, a writer, an entrepreneur, an actor, a socialite, a survivor, an icon. She brought the Vanderbilt name out of the Gilded Age and into the Digital Age, reinventing herself over and over along the way. Hers is a story of charisma, glamour, and heartbreaking loss, told here by Wendy Goodman, who had intimate access to Vanderbilt for this book. The illustrations include portraits of Vanderbilt and her extraordinary homes, filled with original and influential decorating ideas, by such photographic legends as Richard Avedon, Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Inge Morath, Horst P. Horst, Francesco Scavullo, and Annie Leibovitz. Vanderbilt’s son, Anderson Cooper, contributes a foreword." Amazon

Post SnarK: Not only did I have a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans back in the 80s but I also rocked the Gloria Vanderbilt perfume.

Space Junk

"The Pinstriped Bag That Fell To Earth"
Look what landed in my backyard this weekend. I needed a smaller bag but honestly those astronauts should really clean up after themselves. What on earth is going on up there?

Makeup Musties

Bobbi Brown Party To Go Palette ($25)

This tiny palette (3.93 in x 2.52 in x .411 in) from Bobbi Brown online packs a pretty punch. Does this mean I need to buy some smaller purses? Off I go.

Chung Is King!

I want all of these Alexa Chung for Madewell clothes. My greed knows no bounds.

The Alexa Chung & Madewell collab is a match made in heaven. I love her style and hair and I love M-Well. Check out her latest greatest for the fabulous Madewell

Post Snark: I'm totally digging the Madewell vibe. I recently purchased two M-Well dresses (on sale of course) and can't stop wearing them.

Let's Nest

As a master nester, I'm always on the lookout for new feathers. I found this Bar III Bedding on Macy's website. It's kind of West Elmy. Check out the collection

Post Snark: When I was a baby, I decorated my bassinet with 300 thread count linens and lavender sachets.

"What's That On Your Head?"

Asos Turban ($21.95)

Turbans Made A Swift Comeback At The Emmys!
By far the most interesting fashion statement (and perhaps the most interesting thing period) at the Emmys was Emma Joy Kitchener's (wife of Julian Fellowes) fabulous turban/babushka/blanket. With one swatch of fabric, you're a woman of mystery.

Post Snark: Emma's turban was all the talk on Kathy Griffin's Emmy's Aftermath snarkfest on the TV Guide Network.

'Pants Off!'

'Kathy Griffin: Pants Off' airs tonight at 9 on Bravo. She tackles Casey Anthony, the Real Housewives, the Kardashians and Anderson Cooper. I'll be there with my pants on...or off.

Ring In Fall

I'm going kicking and screaming into the fall season but this little number from Tory Burch might be the perfect lure.

Such A Deal!

I just saw this at Old Navy (up close and personal) and it's pretty good. It's only $49.94 but I'm genetically incapable of paying full price, so I'll wait for a sale.

Jackie, Oh No You Didn't!

"A Well-Read Couple"
by Mark Shaw
(I wonder what snarky thoughts she's having)
I love it when famous people spill. It's so delicious. The new Jackie tapes do not disappoint. She refers to Jack LaLanne as "that awful exercise man" and calls Indira Ghandi a "real prune" and Mother Teresa a "show off." Kidding about Mother T but she does trash a wide swath of iconic people. Jackie was quite the Snarkosaurus Rex.

Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations On Life With John F. Kennedy, edited by Caroline Kennedy and Michael Beschloss is available on Amazon for $32.66. Click here for some audio excerpts on USA TODAY

Big Edie & Little Edie

Big Edie ($348)
Little Edie ($238)
Littlest Edie ($148)

J.Crew's Edie Bag is described as "The Bag Of A Lifetime" which got me a pondering. I had it on my J.Crew Musties list and now wonder if it might be "the bag." Unlike "the guy" or "the bathing suit," "the bag" is infinitely more attainable. Just saying. Check out J.Crew's Edie Collection.

Masculine Must-Haves

Drink, anyone?
Put together a styleboard on HGTV. Unwittingly, I created a theme of sorts: bar accoutrements, rolling bar cart and a fainting couch. What can I say?

Absolu Fabulous!

French Touch Absolu At Neiman Marcus ($35)

Let's face it, red lipstick can make you look like a princess or a prostitute. It can be so right or so wrong. This new hue from Lancome is so right and check out the fabulous packaging inspired by their heritage lipsticks.

Crushing On Cooper

Anderson Cooper is the most adorable thing ever. I just want to shrink him down, stick him on my dashboard and dish with him about The Real Housewives. Fortunately I won't have to because Anderson, his new show, is premiering today. It's going to showcase news, social issues as well as his lighter side. Click here to see when it airs in your area.

Happy Birthday Mom!

"Soon They Would All Be Riding Together"

My Mom had a lot of cats around when she was growing up, and it being New Orleans when one would die a full-on feline funeral took place. The kids had little toy cars they drove in a processional to the burial spot and my mom always had the dubious distinction of riding with the dead cat which her younger brother, Nawny, told her was the most honored position. She knew this was a bunch of bologna but did it anyway. Mom's a good sport and secretly gets a kick out of all things mischievous.

"I'm Ready For My Close-Up"

There are a lot of good movies narrated by a dead character, but Sunset Boulevard is one of my favorites and one of the first ones to do this. Sunset Boulevard airs tonight at 8 on TCM.
Gillis (William Holden): "You're Norma Desmond. You used to be in silent pictures. You used to be big."
Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson): "I am big. It's the pictures that got small."

The "F" Word

I'm not going to say the "F" word, and by "F" word I mean fall. Instead I'm going to bury my head in the proverbial white sand and pretend that it's an endless summer.

However, Beautyhabit's Fall Lookbook did sort of catch my eye.

Quelle Heure Est-Il?

I'll tell you what time it is. It's time to go The Loft, for it is there that you will encounter the Square Croc Printed Leather Watch. So fab and it's only $44.50.
