I love the look of a French Sailer. Coco Chanel did too. This sea stripes tee in "jazz blue" is rocking my dinghy (unlike Coco, a dinghy is all I can afford). It sells for $45 at Madewell, J.Crew's sister store.

I'm imagining the possibilities of a Tim Gunn App. Cyber Tim could advise me on what to wear, how to decline an invitation gracefully, which purse to use, how to dazzle people with fancy words. In my fantasy life, Tim often advises me that my work is "lackluster" and I try harder, or he tells me to mitigate a seam (not sure what that means). Someone needs to "make this work."
Don't forget the new season of Project Runway airs tonight at 9:00 and it's been supersized!

Having spent much of my youth obsessing over Merchant Ivory Productions, it is my duty (as a period piece junkie) to blog about the 50% off sale that Barnes & Noble is having on Howards End (Criterion Collection) for $14.99. It was one of their most critically acclaimed films and features my favorite E.M. Forster quote, "Only Connect."
The pinnacle of the decades-long collaboration between producer Ismail Merchant and director James Ivory, Howards End is a luminous vision of E. M. Forster’s cutting 1910 novel about class divisions in Edwardian England. Emma Thompson won an Academy Award for her dynamic portrayal of Margaret Schlegel, a flighty yet compassionate middle-class intellectual whose friendship with the dying wife (Vanessa Redgrave) of rich capitalist Henry Wilcox (Anthony Hopkins) commences an intricately woven tale of money, love, and death that encompasses the country’s highest and lowest social echelons. With a brilliant, layered script by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (who also won an Oscar) and a roster of gripping performances,Howards End is a work of both great beauty and vivid darkness, and one of cinema’s best literary adaptations.

These twin beds are super fab, but where would I put Tootsie, my laptop...or George Clooney? I found this on the "Beachy Boho Interiors" section of Coastal Living's website.
*In Louisiana, people "make dodo" which means go to sleep. It comes from the French verb "dormir" (to sleep). I don't want there to be any unpleasant confusion.

The secret to having a great figure and big bank account is really simple. Always bring your own lunch to work. You'll save tons of money, keep your waistline in check and also steer clear of office drama. This set of insulated lunch totes from Bella sells for $22 on Cambria Cove's website.

It's time for the running of the bulls in Spain. When my brother was a teenager he got to run with the bulls in Pamplona (I was barely allowed to leave the house). Not only did he get to run with the bulls, but it was during the '78 riots so he got shot at too. Not fair! Come to think of it, maybe that's why I wasn't allowed out of the house.
This bull placecard holder, that obviously belongs to Angelina Jolie, sells for $28 at Jonathan Adler.

In case you can't get there, Beach: A Book Of Treasure will help you get there in spirit. Sells for $16.47 on Amazon.
"Beloved author Josie Iselin's collaged images of the treasures we live with as reminders of the beach—from sea glass to driftwood, shells to stones—evoke the timeless elements of sand, ocean, and refreshing sea air. In her writings, Iselin shares thoughts on the varied ways we experience the beach while also providing fascinating insights into the scientific ecosystem of the ocean, such as how the oyster constructs its shell and the ways in which algae is classified. At once an exploration and a meditation, Beach: A Book of Treasure will delight and inspire anyone who values the unique environment of the seashore and the myriad wonders found therein." - Chronicle Books

Loving this series of pattern books from the Victoria and Albert Museum. I did a semester abroad and lived three blocks away from the V&A and spent so much time there...skipping classes. The set of four books which I discovered on elledecor.com sells for $31.35 on Amazon.
"The four compact volumes survey two centuries of kimonos; prewar British novelty patterns; the elaborate designs of Victorian architect and designer Owen Jones; and lush fin de siècle florals. Each comes with a CD of high-res images so designers can transfer, rework, or recolor the patterns for their own projects." -Amazon

This is so inappropriate, I don't even know where to begin. Here is Tootsie draped in the the military flag we got at my Dad's funeral. If there's anything resembling a blanket near a doxie, they'll burrow in it. They don't care that it breaks protocol. They just want to get their snuggle on. Happy Fourth Fabulous Alert Followers!

I'm sold on Selling New York, HGTV's new show that will make you feel woefully inadequate about where you live. Even more so than House Hunters International. That's the show that has me wondering what went so wrong with my life that I don't have a vacation home in Costa Rica. Selling New York, which shows how the cream of the crop do it, airs tonight on HGTV at 9:00 EST.
