Huelicious!

Years ago, I bought the most fabulous tray from Wisteria. Sadly, it caught on fire during a photo shoot. True story. You know how trays have a tendency to put themselves in peril. These colorful trays sell for $34 each at Wisteria and hopefully they know better.

Cool Waters

If irreverence is your thing (reverence is so 1985), than John Waters is for you. He's one of the funniest writers I know. His new book, Role Models is coming out today and I couldn't be happier. Love that it's being published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. They published T.S Eliot, Pablo Neruda, Walker Percy, Flannery O'Connor and basically anyone that makes all us former English majors tinkle. John Waters must be in heaven...or hell in his case.

Happy Endings

Among my favorite things in this world is a pair of starfish sandals I got from J.Crew. When the starfish came off I was inconsolable. J.Crew generously agreed to pay for the repair bill. Unfortunately I live in a small town whose only shoe repair store insisted they couldn't fix my shoes to which I replied, "We can put a man on the moon, but you can't fix my Starfish Sandals?" Long story short, I found a hippie with a "Can Do" attitude and lived happily ever after with my J.Crew Starfish Sandals. No really.

These faboosh Starfish Sandals sell for $115 at Piperlime.

I Thought It Was Me

Here I am thinking I look great for my age and the whole time it was my perfume? According to the April issue of Allure magazine, the scent of Grapefruit gives one the perception of being ten years younger. Jo Malone's Grapefruit is my favorite Grapefruit scent. So clean and fresh. Perfect for travel.

Petites BoƮtes

I never have anything to go in the little boxes because I'm a minimalist but I like them anyway. This is, of course, contrary to the whole minimalist "thing" but there it is. Am I a closet hoarder? Gasp! These dangerously cute boxes are on sale at Talbots for $14.99.

Why Can't I Do Cannes?

Oh to be a French fly on the wall at this famous film festival. What is it like to breathe its rarified air. You kind of can with the documentary Cannes: All Access. Queue it up. And here's a behind the scenes book on the subject: Cannes: Fifty Years Of Sun, Sex & Celluloid.

Happy Birthday Jimmy Stewart!

Jimmy Stewart is one of my all-time favorite actors. He reminds me of my Dad who not only looked like Stewart but could do a mean impersonation. For lovers of Jimmy Stewart and film, it doesn't get any better than Hitchcock's psychosexual masterpiece, Vertigo. Check out the trailer!

Tootsie's People?

When I saw this doxie on India's blog and read that she got it in Florida from a strange woman, I couldn't help but wonder if it's one of Tootsie's kin. Tootsie (left side) has similar markings to Banger (right side) and I got her from a strange woman in Florida. Hmm.

Daniel Day Handsome

So dedicated to the craft of acting, Daniel Day Lewis has managed to hide the fact that he's one of the most handsome men in the world by playing unattractive characters. Let the evidence speak for itself, ladies and gentlemen:
  • There Will Be Ugly
  • Ugly Gangs of New York
  • My Ugly Left Foot
  • My Ugly Laundrette
  • Room With An Ugly View
It was refreshing to see him play a good-looking man in the recently released DVD, Nine. Whatever shortcomings this movie had were overcome by the stunning DDL.

The Horses Are On The Track!

The Kentucky Derby race begins today at 5-7 p.m. EST on NBC. Beautiful hats, bourbon-based drinks, big sexy horses (once a teenage girl, always a teenage girl), Bob Baffert's hair and best of all it only lasts a few minutes. Count me in. Here's the Kentucky Derby Barbie on the backside at Churchill Downs. Check out this great gallery of Derby pics on the courier-journal.com

Little Horse, Big Heart

This is a picture of Thumbelina, the world's smallest horse. Visiting sick children and spreading cheer, she's like the Princess Di of horses. Here she is at Niagara Falls. Sadly, Thumbelina will not be competing in the Kentucky Derby. Check out Thumbelina's website.
